The Division for Learning Disabilities participated in the annual meeting of the Council for Exceptional Children, held in Lousiville, KY (US), 19-21 April 2007. During the business meeting, DLD honored Michael Faggella-Luby (University of Connecticut Storrs) for his award-winning dissertation entitled "Embedded Learning Strategy Instruction: Story-Structure Pedagogy in Secondary Classes for Diverse Learners" and Donald Deshler for his lifetime contribution to the field of learning disabilities. In addition, DLD members Rolanda O'Connor (University of California at Riverside) and Janette Klingner (University of Colorado, Boulder) presented an enlightening discussion of response to intervention entitled "After RTI: Who Still Needs Help When Interventions Have Failed?"
TeachingLD.org is pleased to provide copies of the slides presented by Professors O'Connor and Klingner as well as comments delivered by John Lloyd (University of Virginia) and Naomi Zigmond (University of Pittsburgh) about their paper. Interested readers may download a PDF binder containing all three presentations, review the slides as HTML pages, or download PDF versions of each separately.
