IDEA 2004 Topical Briefs Published
The U.S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP), released a set of documents to assist constituents with the implementation of IDEA 2004. These briefs are only summaries of the law and do not contain any interpretation of the law by the Department. CEC has an on-line link to the papers that at www.cec.sped.org/cec_bn/briefs.html. IDEA 2004 Proposed Regulations Expected in May 2005
As part of the Notice of Proposed Rule Making (NPRM), the Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services (OSERS) anticipates draft regulations for IDEA 2004 to be published in the Federal Register in May 2005. Following publication, there will be 75 days for public comment on the proposed regulations, including another series of meetings for the public to provide comment. See the meeting list below.

Individuals can register to comment at the door, on a first-come first-served basis. Individuals can provide oral and written comments at the meetings; written comments that accompany oral remarks are optional.
